Lumeteo is an answer to our hyper digital world. When we look at the weather report we re used to watch numbers which tell us what the weather will be like outside. Lume- teo gi es us a di erent way of telling the weather isual way ith time you will learn to read its pattern combinations to tell what the weather is like.
hile we re all used to getting weather reports based on numbers, Lumeteo will give us the weather report by using geometric pattern created by LEDs. With time, the mind will get used to reading the visual language of Lumeteo and you will say things like it s bluish triangles today, I d better wear a sweat- er”.
It is a poetic way of telling the weather without the use of the complete ac- curacy of numbers, in a world already hyper digital. Lumeteo gives out 3 basic weather related information: tem- pera- ture, humidity and barometric pressure. or this it uses di erent sensors to measure the data from its surround- ings his data is then used to deter- mine the pattern that will appear he LEDs and sensors are controlled by an rduino board s the weather aries throughout the day, the week, the year
so does the pattern created by the LEDs. It is programmed to rec- ognize
a range of information and does not designate a particular pattern for each number or example, a certain pattern will appear when temperatures rise abo e c, but there won t be a dif- ferent pattern for each degree. It is the antithesis to a culture where everything needs to be exact Instead umeteo supplies us with an impression only. umeteo frame is cm x cm he artwork has three components: the luminous ob ect, a box containing the rduino mega and the power supply and an recei er and an extra box that is situated outside, which contains the sensors and another rduino with an RF trans- mitter.
he colours used to indicate hit or chill are shades of white light with di er- ent colour tem- peratures, while the barometric pressure is indicated with a pink light.
